Thirteen members of Ebury’s 121 strong UK team took part in the gruelling Tough Mudder challenge on Saturday 25th of October. Covered in mud and sweat, having been electrocuted, soaked and frozen, the Ebury team made it over the line at the Matterley Bowl course.

Tough Mudder is an endurance event series in which participants attempt a 12 mile (19 km) long military style obstacle course. Designed and created by British Special Forces to test mental as well as physical strength, obstacles often play on common human fears, such as fire, water, electricity, enclosed spaces and heights.

The team comprised of a mix of new business developers, experienced Trade Finance salespeople, currency specialists, and senior management including Andras Mecser, Global Head of Corporate Development. The team pulled together to take on this muddy challenge. The team’s most memorable moment from the day was Jules finishing with one shoe. His other shoe was stuck in the mud amongst the electrocution cables and there was no way he was going back for it! That was the most unpleasant obstacle although the award for hardest to complete goes to Hangin’ Tough. The whole event was definitely worth the ache and difficult obstacles were more than compensated by the fun of completing the Mud Mile.

Stephen Ball, Head of Revenue & Customer Strategy and three times Tough Mudder Finisher, commented, ‘It was great to get such a diverse group together for this endurance test. Not only a great physical achievement, but knowing that we have raised £1,600 for charity is something we are immensely proud of. Thank you to everyone who has donated to Help for Heroes in support and congrats to the Ebury team. Completing this challenge together is testament to our team work and determination.’
